Keeping Cool

Whew! Its been a busy hot month! Too long since I've posted new pics. We've been spending lots of our time outdoors these days, which is made much more bearable by our shady yard. But today it was sticky with few breezes so we broke out the sprinkler even though it was not our day to 'water' Oops, but we didn't water yesterday when it was our turn so we're just making up for it by having fun! The first pick is of Jake 'reading' Brown Bear to Tom & Dad. He can do the whole book with a little peeking ahead. Tom can name all the animals and colors too! Our garden is really starting to boom. So far we've only had lettuce and peas out of it, but it looks like we'll have a bumper crop of cukes and tomatoes! Stay posted for a pic of the first tomato of the season if I can catch it before its eaten! We have to watch Tom around the garden because he'll pick things before they're ripe! The boys are growing almost as fast as the garden it seems. Tom's baby belly is melting away and he will tell you he's a big boy, not a baby!

Bubble Boys!

Well, I finally got around to replacing our supply of bubble solution after Tom dumped out our last jug trying to refill his Baby Jack Jack bubble blower. A very fun toy, it is funnier to hear Tom say babyackackbubbles over and over again! Unfortunately Baby Jack Jack appears to need new batteries, and of course, I don't have the correct size on hand. So we've had to make do with the bubble gun which works quite well. (Better than Baby Jack Jack but don't tell Tom I told you!)

More cute boy pics

My guys have been under the weather lately. We just got over a bout with fevers before Grammy & Grampy came to visit, but now they are down with summer colds. They are still cute though! Jake has gotten into bundling up his friends in blankies so Tom has to do it too. One pic is of Tom after he survived an attack by an ice cream cone, phew it was a close one! We also got the guys helmets to ride behind Mommy in the bike trailer. I'll have get Jas to take some action pics of us. Last, Jake surprised me by not waiting for me to put Tom down for his nap to make him a sandwich, he made his own! He did pretty good with the jelly, but we were out of pb, so that mess was avoided. He ate it all up too!

MOPS Tea

We had a blast at our year end party the MOPS Tea, which was held at Christine's lovely home. We ate great food, heard from a funny but touching speaker, and of course had lots of goodies! Most of the pics are from our bag exchange, which was lots of fun. E-mail me for more info on how to join us mothers of preschoolers!

More play doh fun

Since we painted yesterday (sorry no pics) we took a turn with the play-doh today. I wouldn't have gotten the camera out but Jake had to start spelling with it!!! He shaped the letters without any help from me. Plus, so you know that Jake isn't the only smartie, Tom was playing with a letter magnet today & when I asked him what the letter was he told me correctly! Too cool! I tried to get an action shot of Tom kicking the ball, but I took it too early. The McQueen ball (as we call it) is good for kicking, but Tom is not tall enough to put it on top of the fort.

The new fort!!

To encourage the guys to play in the back yard & to relive some fun from his own childhood, daddy built the guys a great fort out of wood pallets. It is very sturdy and the guys love it. My contribution was to suggest making chalk decorations. Jake has mastered climbing up & down on top, but Tom hasn't & we aren't encouraging him to!

Play Doh & Cousins

What could be more fun than playing play-doh with some buds? My guys were joined by their Sunbury cousins, Riley & Macy for a morning of fun. They all enjoyed the play-doh and cookie cutters & no one ate any! The socks were knitted for Jake by Grammy Gretchen, they look great and fit nicely too!
